VeilNet Private Plane is one of the unique capabilities compared to other providers’ static and non-customizable overlay networks.
What is VeilNet Private Plane #
VeilNet Plane is an isolated, secure overlay network that is customizable. You can choose any IP address range (even public IP ranges if for any reason), instead of the fixed carrier GNAT IP address range 10.64.0.0/16 used in other overlay network providers.
Additionally, each VeilNet Plane has its own channel control that is not accessible or discoverable by VeilNet Conflux instances on a different VeilNet Plane. Consider that they are virtual air-gapped networks that have their own “plane of existence”.
Furthermore, each VeilNet Plane is associated with a Veil, which is tied to a specific geo-location. Thus, VeilNet also offers geo-location access control that is missing from other overlay network providers.
Create a VeilNet Private Plane #
VeilNet Private Plane can be created via VeilNet Console, by selecting the second navigation tile inside the right panel on the main navigation page. Then, you will see the page below:

On this page, you will see your existing VeilNet Private Planes. To create a new one, simply connect the “Add Plane” button, then a form will show up.

Give your VeilNet Private Plane a name and choose any IP address range you would like to use, such as 10.128.0.0/16 or 192.168.0.0/24.
Then select a Veil from the drop-down button. Each Veil is named with its associated geo-location. Please keep in mind that:
- Geo-Location Restriction: Only VeilNet Conflux instances from the same geo-location will be accessible to the VeilNet Private Plane.
- No Performance Impact: Selecting a Veil does not mean your VeilNet Private Plane will use the control channel servers from that location. VeilNet control channel is globally accessible, and you will always use the server closest to you.
- No Modification: You can not change the Veil of a VeilNet Private Plane at the moment. You will have to delete the current one and create a new one if you would like to change Veil.
Each VeilNet Private Plane also requires an active Plane subscription. Currently, it is not open to the public. If you would like to have one, please contact us, and we will offer one for free during the Beta period.
Delete a VeilNet Private Plane #
To delete a VeilNet Private Plane, simply click on the expansion title of the target plane and click on the “Delete” button. Be careful, deleting a VeilNet Private Plane will revoke all registration tokens linked to it, and disconnect all VeilNet Conflux instances under it.

Associate Subscription #
You can freely associate and dissociate a Plane subscription from a VeilNet Private Plane. However, a Plane subscription can only be associated with one Plane at any time.
If the plane subscription is inactive or cancelled, all VeilNet Conflux instances under that Plane will be disconnected.
VeilNet Public Planes are free to use and do not require a subscription.
